Describing ourselves in a few lines isn’t exactly easy, but I’ll give it a try…
Two burned-out ex-corporate types brought together at the start of Covid. Boris was living his dream—he’d just bought a restaurant in the center of Bratislava. I was between jobs, freshly back from an ashram in India and wondering what to do next. We were both well traveled, each in our own way—Boris the adventurer, with diving and extreme skiing; me more low-key, with yoga. Covid clipped our wings, but we didn’t give up. Thanks to Boris, I discovered Slovakia’s mountains during the pandemic, and as soon as borders reopened, we packed our bags.
Our first big journey took us to Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, and Brazil—where our love story with South America began, and it’s still going strong…
And where does IBO, our fox terrier, fit into all this? I’d always wanted a dog—specifically a Hungarian Vizsla. Boris’s family, on the other hand, had fox terriers for generations. During Covid we often looked after Dashi, his mom’s dog, who trekked a good chunk of Slovakia’s mountains with us. Little by little, helped by the work-from-home lifestyle, I realized it was the perfect time for a dog of our own. And along came IBO (almost a Vizsla, but in reality 100% fox terrier). When I went to see the puppies, he immediately clambered all over me and wouldn’t stop—the decision was made… With his typical foxy temperament, he completes us beautifully, and we wouldn’t trade him for anything. He’s our partner in life and on the road. 🐾
He’s been traveling with us almost everywhere since he was a pup. The only times we left him at home were when we flew. Being apart was always tough—endless wondering about how he was, what he might be doing, whether he missed us… So we said enough is enough. Our travels took a clear turn: from then on, he’d come with us everywhere—even on flights. And it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made 🙂.
