Conditions:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>applies only to dogs of Namibian or South African origin, or dogs that have been resident in either country for at least 3 months,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the last rabies vaccination must have been given at least 30 days and no more than 1 year before travel,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an inter-territorial movement permit issued by a local state veterinarian in South Africa is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Entry_from_Botswana_and_other_SADC_countries\"><\/span>Entry from Botswana and other SADC countries<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Botswana and the rest of SADC, a similar regime to South Africa applies, but only for dogs of Namibian or SADC origin, or dogs that have been resident in one of these countries for at least 3 months. For other dogs from SADC countries (except South Africa and Botswana), an import permit is required.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Entry_from_other_countries\"><\/span>Entry from other countries<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For all other countries, the ministry specifies a 30\u2011day quarantine on arrival in Namibia. The remaining steps regarding the import permit and certificate are the same as for the EU\/USA. We recommend confirming details of the quarantine facility, costs and conditions for your dog\u2019s stay directly with the Namibian ministry at Vet.Permits@mawlr.gov.na before you travel.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Import_permit\"><\/span>Import permit<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The import permit is issued by Namibia\u2019s Ministry of Agriculture (MAWLR). It is issued within 3 working days of application, is valid for 4 months and covers a single trip.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The import permit sets out the exact conditions, including required laboratory tests. Before you apply, you won\u2019t know exactly which tests are required\u2014you\u2019ll find out only once the permit is issued.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Veterinary_health_certificate\"><\/span>Veterinary health certificate<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The veterinary health certificate must be endorsed by the state veterinarian in the country of departure. After endorsement, scan it and send it along with your dog\u2019s passport and test results to the Namibian office, which will then issue a landing permit.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Flying_to_Namibia_with_a_dog\"><\/span>Flying to Namibia with a dog<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When flying to Namibia you\u2019ll need to meet both the veterinary rules and your airline\u2019s pet policy.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before booking, check:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>whether the airline carries dogs on your route,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>whether the dog can travel in the cabin or only in the hold,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>crate requirements,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the rules for connections and transit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Namibia\u2019s ministry lists these entry points with veterinary control: Hosea Kutako International Airport, Trans\u2011Kalahari, Ariamsvlei, Noordoewer, Oshikango, the Port of Walvis Bay and other border crossings.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Returning_home_from_Namibia\"><\/span>Returning home from Namibia<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a dog returns from Namibia, the rules are set not by Namibia but by the country you\u2019re entering.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Returning_to_the_EU_with_a_dog_from_Namibia\"><\/span>Returning to the EU with a dog from Namibia<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Namibia, the EU requires a rabies antibody titer test.
