When traveling to Italy with a dog, you need the right documents, a valid rabies vaccination, and microchip identification. Sardinia, Sicily, and the Aeolian Islands are part of Italy, and the same veterinary entry rules for dogs apply there as on the mainland.<\/p>\n\n<p>This means that entering these islands doesn\u2019t require any additional documents beyond the standard requirements for entering Italy.<\/p>\n\n<p>The only practical issue you might encounter is checks by the carrier. The simplest rule of thumb is to keep them ready at all times.<\/p>\n\n<p>When I went <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibo.guide\/en\/cima-di-terrarossa-with-a-dog\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"613\">hiking to Cima di Terrarossa with my dog Ibo<\/a>, we crossed the Italian border from Slovenia. Ibo had all the required documents, but there were no checks at the border \u2014 either when entering Italy or on the way back.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summary of the rules for traveling to Italy with a dog<\/h2>\n\n<p>Traveling to Italy with a dog is relatively straightforward within Europe.
